Wisconsin TEPP Free* Phone
This is the basic program for the Hard of Hearing $125 (which has no co-payment required for the voucher, and it is self certifying). This program provide a *free phone to those that are hard of hearing and a Wisconsin resident every three years. We here at Hearmoreaids, will help take all the processing out of your hands, you fill out the application, choose a phone and we will take care of the rest. We will process the voucher for you and order the phone. Simple and easy for your *free phone.
(Telecommunications Equipment Purchase Program) which helps individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing purchase special equipment that will allow them to access telecommunication services. This program draws upon money provided by Wisconsin telephone service providers who collect the funds in the form of fees we pay on our monthly phone bills. TEPP provides vouchers to eligible applicants to cover the cost of approved adaptive equipment. Hearmoreaids now stocks TEPP approved phones. We’d also be happy to assist you in filling out and submitting the proper application from.
We stock two cordless and two corded models of the ClearSounds® brand telephones, that qualifiy for the TEPP program (see the button below for a pdf of the phones). Some even have answering machines and all have large numbers and screens, all flash when a incoming call comes in, the black A300 also vibrates for incoming calls, it is our most asked for model. These phones are adjustable for volume AND tone levels. Even better news, is that if you are hard of hearing (ask your family or friends… they’ll be honest) we’ll help you fill out and submit the forms if you’re eligible so you can receive a ClearSounds® Amplified phone for *free! Application Direction:
Print and complete the application above filling out only the grayed in parts, with name, address, city, state and zip, below that add in your phone number birthday and last four digits of your social security number, sign the application and then at the top there is room to fill out your choice of phones. The application process will take about 6 weeks and then you will receive your phone by FedEx.
* Equipment eligible for purchase is made available through the Wisconsin Telecommunications Equipment Purchase Program and paid for by the Wisconsin Universal Service Fund. The Program serves eligible or qualified individuals with certain telecommunications-related special needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is so special about the phones?
A: These phones are specially made for people that have trouble hearing on a regular telephone. Each phone has different features, such as: they flash when ringing; they amplify 25dB to 50dB louder than a regular telephone, have adjustable volume and tone control, and are hearing aid compatible.
Are they really free?
A: Yes. The state of Wisconsin offers a voucher program to cover the cost of the phone for anyone that is hard of hearing. There are no catches. Once you receive your phone it is your phone to keep. If you do not like it you can do whatever you decide with it.
How do I know if I am able to fit the qualifications?
A: The Wisconsin TEPP program is a self certifying program provided for all WI residents. There is no qualification process, however, the State and application requires you to sign that you have trouble hearing on a regular telephone. There is no income limit neither do you need to have a doctor verify that you have hearing loss.
Do I have to give you my social security number?
A: No. All that is needed is your name, address, phone, date of birth, signature and able to check the box saying that you are hard of hearing.
Do I still have to pay the monthly payment from the phone company?
A: Yes. The state offers just the hardware but you still have to pay your phone bill from whatever phone company you go through.
Do I have to let the phone company know that I have this phone?
A: No. We are giving you the hardware which will work on any phone line. The amplification comes from the phone not the phone line.
When do I receive the phone?
A: The will be sent via UPS in approximately 6 weeks from when the application is completed. If you have questions about status you can call 608-317-3351 and they can answer your question

Can I ever reapply again?
A: Yes. You can reapply (if you chose to) 3 years after the date in which you original applied.
Why do you do this/ what is in it for you?
A: We do it because we want to make sure that the residents of the State of Wisconsin are informed of the program.
